Ten Cents (Eps. 41-50)

Updated: Sep 22, 2023

"And if you think you could've done better, well thankfully tomorrow is a new day, next year is a new year, and you can do with it what you will. But you don't need anyone rushing you into feeling under-accomplished or like you've wasted time. 'Cause that's not true." (Danielle G.)

We've reached 50 episodes of Young, Gifted and Abroad! To commemorate this, and to share my thoughts one last time before taking a break from all podcast-related activities for the next two months, here I am checking in again with a new edition of "Ten Cents"! In addition to the usual rundown, you get to hear Julia shuffling and clicking around the house, because the one time I decide not to put her away, she refuses to be still.

1) How I feel about 50 episodes + Why and how I'm taking a break (0:00-9:41) - I'm feeling a mixture of pride, relief, and disbelief, but ultimately I'm owning the fact that I've indeed done the work to make this podcast happen. I'm also owning the fact that I've been having a hard time and I'm tired (I know, who isn't, but bear with me please). Plus, I share what I'll be doing while I'm on break from November 2019 to January 2020!

2) What I've learned (9:41-18:36) - Turns out I had not one, but four lessons to share this time around! Follow your first mind. Don't dismiss anything, because you never know what will come in handy or mean something later. Appreciate the support you do have now instead of pining over the support you don't have yet. Don't let anybody rush you.

3) Thank you, thank you, and thank you, too! (18:36-26:52) - Thanks to my mom. Thanks to anyone who's sent any positivity my way in relation to Young, Gifted and Abroad. Thanks to anyone who's sent new guests my way. Thanks to my new-ish therapist. Thanks to all my guests from episodes 41-50: Nenna, Ralph, Peter, Jasmine, Tiffany H., Taylor, Michelle, Camille, Neena, and Flor! And of course, thanks to you for listening!

Be sure to listen to this episode, "Ten Cents (Eps. 41-50)" for more! And look forward to the return of Young, Gifted and Abroad every other Tuesday starting in January 2020. See y'all next year!
